In itself, it bears the spirit of people, nation and its beliefs. Folk dance, as a part of ancient rituals, followed human development to provide a perspective view of the changes in the overall lifestyle of people through time. Handed from generation to generation, each leaving its own mark, it conveys the emotions and elements of everyday life, enriching them and bestowing on it new beauty and the glory of the epoch.

Through its Folk Festival, Topola has become the meeting place of the best dancing, vocal and folk music bands, winners in folk art in other festivals and gatherings of folk artistry during the year.

The performers at the Festival are expected to display the folk art of their region: dancing, singing, playing traditional instruments, and dress in the purest and most authentic form. Its special attraction is the procession through the streets of Topola headed by riders carrying the Festival’s banners in which all participants of the festival take part and give out fruits from the baskets to the public.

Folk Festival is the manifestation that in the right manner preserves the tradition and customs of Serbian people.

For almost half a century, since 1958, every October, economically-tourist manifestation Oplenac vintage takes place in Topola. At the same time is also The Performance of Serbian folk creativity, the manifestation that gives the special significance to Oplenac vintage and enriches it culturally. The Performance of Serbian folk creativity helps for decades to draw our cultural heritage to all generations. Organizers of this manifestation are the Municipality of Topola, Association of amateurs of Serbia and Tourist organization of Topola.
